Most Anticipated Movies at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival: 'Behind the Candelabra,' 'Only God Forgives,' 'The Bling Ring'
Gosling, Damon, Timberlake, Cotillard, Swinton and more
Director: Asghar Farhadi
Stars: Berenice Bejo, Tahar Rahim, Ali Mosaffa
Premiere date: Friday, May 17
Why: Among a zillion other awards, Iranian director Farhadi's last film, “A Separation,” nabbed an Oscar, and deservedly so: a morally multi-faceted breakup drama, it proved Farhadi's delicate knack for weaving personal and political narratives to his widest audience yet. All eyes will be on his follow-up, which is another divorce story – though this one takes the director out of his home country. Oscar nominee Berenice Bejo (from “The Artist,” now with added voice) plays a young Parisian mother caught between her estranged Iranian husband (Mosaffa) and her Franco-Algerian lover (Rahim), and the trailer promises even-handed, emotionally rich drama out of this tangle. Could it be one to watch for the Palme?
