Woody Harrelson attends the AFI screening of 'Rampart'
Harrelson stars as Los Angeles cop Dave Brown in the film, which is set against the backdrop of the LAPD's Rampart scandal during the late 1990s. More than 70 police officers were implicated in the scandal, for a variety of offenses including the framing of suspects, planting evidence, dealing narcotics, and unprovoked shootings and physical assaults. Several of them were discovered to be on the payroll of Marion "Suge" Knight, one of the founders of Death Row Records.
The film re-teams Harrelson with Oren Moverman, who directed him to an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for 2009's "The Messenger" (Moverman was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay along with co-writer Alessandro Camon).
