Abbie Cornish stars as Wally Winthrop, a lonely married woman living in modern-day New York City who has an affair with a Russian security guard (played by Oscar Isaac).
Andrea Riseborough stars as Wallis Simpson, an American divorcee whose real-life romance with King Edward VIII compelled him to abdicate the throne in 1936 so he could marry her. Edward is played in the film by James D'Arcy.
