Madonna at the Venice Film Festival
The Madonna-directed "W.E." tells two parallel stories -- in 1998, a lonely young woman (Abbie Cornish) becomes intrigued by the 1930s romance between abdicated British King Edward VIII (James D'Arcy) and his American lover, Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough). This historical episode was also dramatized in "The King's Speech," with Guy Pearce playing Edward.
