Lollapalooza headliner hits and misses: Lady Gaga, Green Day, Arcade Fire, more
Stay put or hit the bathroom? HitFix tackles which live acts will make the grade
The Strokes
In support of: Forthcoming, as-yet-unnamed new album, their first since 2006’s “First Impressions of Earth”
What to expect: There’s four albums to draw from, and nearly four years since the band has largely been touring. It’s been almost nine years since their groundbreaking “Is This It” and frankly nobody’s gonna show up to hear material from the band members’ middling side projects. Or “First Impressions.”
Stay put or hit the bathroom: Frankly, from the two times this writer has seen The Strokes live, Julian Casablancas is disengaging as a frontman, and the band play as if walking through a park. Let’s hope they minimize the “here’s another one from the new album,” play from the first two albums or else we recommend going and buying a burrito (the best bang for your buck).
