J. Edgar stares down Bruno Hauptmann
Hauptmann, here played by Damon Herriman, was convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby and sentenced to death. He was executed in 1936, though Hoover and several others questioned his guilt due to the manner in which the police investigation was conducted. Evidence tampering and the intimidation of witnesses were among the charges made by those who believed Hauptmann was innocent.
