Lazaro, Angela, Curtis, Candice and and more discuss their 'Idol' futures
Angela Miller of 'American Idol' interview
On That Original Song she sang in Hollywood: "I wrote that a little bit before Christmas, a few months ago. Yeah. It's a new one. I just remember sitting in my room and just being like, "Hey Mom, come here. Let me play you an original song" and she was like, "Oh! That's good" and then I sang it in front of America. That's amazing."
Did anybody try telling her she was crazy for doing her own song at that point? "No, no one said I was crazy, but people definitely were like, "Uhhh..." I met with the vocal coach and sang him the song and I was like, "Be honest! Is it a bad song?" And he was like, "No, no, no. Do it." And I was like, "OK.""
How many more does she have like it? "Honestly, I don't have a whole lot, but the ones that I do have, I'm so proud of and would love to share with America?"
When did she start writing songs? "Good ones? I started writing a while ago, but actually writing good songs? It was probably when I finished school in June and after I auditioned for "Idol." That was when songs really started to come."
On how frequently she plans on playing the piano on the "Idol" stage: "I don't want it to be overdone. I want playing the piano to be something that people are like, "Yes! She's playing piano again!" not, "Awww. She's playing piano again?!?" I just want to keep raising the bar and doing do so well even when I don't have the piano."
