10 indie rock tours to get excited about: Conor Oberst, Sufjan Stevens, LCD Soundsystem
Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, Of Montreal with Janelle Monae, New Pornographers and more
The National with Owen Pallett
Owen Pallett (formerly Final Fantasy) goes from one distinguished tour to another, and with good reason: his live shows are exquisite. His compositions seemingly call for a multitude of musicians, but his fragile voice and melodies make friends with whomever he shares a bill -- just this year, he's going from Arcade Fire to Dirty Projectors to The National, and beyond. His album "Heartland" dropped in January and he's preparing "A Swedish Love Story" EP for Sept. 28.
And then there's The National, whose shows grow increasingly professional and dramatic. Their expanded lineup covers all your favorite crannies of this summer's "High Violet" and they lean toward songs off of "Alligator" and "Boxer" for the rest.
