5. "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" (Production Designer: Dante Ferretti)

For Burton to work with another legend (that's six different designers so far, if you're counting at home) on "Sweeney Todd" was one thing, but that the legend was Dante Ferretti? It's a match made in heaven, particularly for the material at hand. Ferretti's classy touch kept some of the flourishes in check and allowed that creativity to be redirected elsewhere (like the dazzling "By the Sea" sequence). Oscar came calling.
