What to spend you money on this month in music, movies, TV, books and videogames
Apes, Shakespeare and the New Pornographers guarantee the best party ever
$60 - Something from London TKTS. There's a strong chance I'll be Across the Pond in the next 30 days and if that's happening, I'll want to see something on the West End and even if I can't get tickets to "The Crucible" or "Skylight" or "Richard III" with Martin Freeman, I'll be setting aside some chunk of change for a ticket of some sort.
$12 - "Guardians of the Galaxy" ticket. OK. Fine. You've worn me down. If I'm not getting a "Shirt Tales" movie, I'll go see this Marvel sponsored story about a talking raccoon and a helpful tree.
$12 - "Rise of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" ticket. I've been trapped at TCA press tour and Comic-Con for the better part of a month and I have some catching up to do and if you know anything about me, it's that I like monkeys.
$6.99 - "Snowpiercer" OnDemand. Yes, I know it'll look better on the big screen. Sorry. We all make choices and this one is about both time AND finances.
$8.99 - The New Pornographers' "Brill Bruisers." We don't get to keep any of the money we have leftover, right? In that case, I'll buy a digital download of the new disc from TNP. Does anybody call them "TNP"? And with the two cents I have leftover, I'll buy gum. Or maybe I'll just find a "Take a Penny, Leave a Penny" dish and leave two. Pay it forward, as it were.
