Why we love it: I grew up on these guys, OK? And to be honest, I got a lot of what I bargained for. Great action, intriguing personalities from the eponymous quartet, etc.
Why it's cringe-inducing: The futzing with the origin stuff is just kind of blah, and I don't say that as any sort of loyalist. It just rang as arbitrary and bad. On a plot level, it's aching for a rewrite. And Tony Shalhoub, God bless him, was all kinds of wrong for Splinter.
