His latest album came out too late to be eligible, but his 2011 independent album qualifies the hip-hop artist. His star has been rising between the time voters got their ballots and they have to turn them in, including Lady Gaga releasing her collaboration with him. If not this year, he could be a contender next year if his star continues to rise.
