James Van Der Beek
Film he went "bad" for: "Rules of Attraction"
Why it was shocking: By 2002 Van Der Beek had become a household name for his career defining role as Dawson Leery on "Dawson's Creerk." Amazingly, even after four years of the show and big time fame he hadn't made that many movies and the few he'd done were pretty tame roles. Sean Bateman was anything but tame. Created by Bret Easton Ellis, Sean is the brother of that notorious "American Psycho" and a drug dealer at a fictional New Hampshire college. The movie was almost design to shock and almost earned an NC-17 rating. Can you imagine adorable "Dawson" starring in an NC-17 movie?
