Sigourney Weaver, "Ghostbusters"
While Bill Murray was the breakout superstar of the movie, his performance wouldn't have worked if Sigourney Weaver hadn't given the incredibly sly performance she did as Dana Barrett. She had to sell the horror side of the film enough to make the stakes count, and she also had to make us believe that Peter Venkman's insane smarm was actually breaking through her resistance. She is great in every scene, whether she's gently deflecting the attentions of Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) or playing possessed once she has been taken by Zuul. She may be more recognized as Ripley from the "Alien" movies, but I think Dana Barrett is her finest overall work onscreen, next level movie star charisma incarnate.
