The Emmys will air live nationwide on NBC
If you live in most of the country, the news that the Emmys will air live nationwide this August probably doesn't seem like such a big deal. If, however, you live on the West Coast, it's like an awards-night revolution.
NBC has officially announced that this year's Emmy telecast will go coast-to-coast at 5 p.m. PT and 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 29.
While NBC still wouldn't show live Olympics events to West Coast viewers, the network broke new ground earlier this year by airing the Golden Globes live everywhere, ending a long tradition of tape delaying.
For years, the Oscars were the only award show aired live in the Pacific time zone, so NBC must have been encouraged by the ratings for the Globes.
