From 'The Avengers' to 'E.T.' - 20 Reasons to own a Blu-ray player in Fall 2012
For a format that's supposedly on the way out, Blu-ray's looking pretty good
"E.T." and "Jaws"
The single biggest "Jaws" fan I know is Eric Vespe, who writes as "Quint" at Ain't It Cool News, and he went to the Cannes screening of this new 4K restoration. His glowing endorsement of it ("I saw things I've never seen before!") is all I need to know to get excited about this one, and knowing that Spielberg has made sure to restore the original 1982 version of "E.T." instead of the weird wrong-headed one featuring walkie-talkies pasted over the guns of the original, makes me think these are going to be reference quality copies of two of the best films he's ever made.
