From 'The Avengers' to 'E.T.' - 20 Reasons to own a Blu-ray player in Fall 2012
For a format that's supposedly on the way out, Blu-ray's looking pretty good
"The Forever Marilyn Collection"
There's an era of filmmaking that I think looks particularly lush on Blu-ray, mainly the '50s and the '60s, when Technicolor went crazy and things got beautiful, and many of these Marilyn Monroe titles were made in that era. Of the films that make up this set, I'm most curious about "The Seven Year Itch," but all of the titles could use some real visual polish. I hope younger viewers continue to rediscover Marilyn as an actor and not just as an icon, because when she was on, she was magic, and there's plenty of that included here.
