'Tetsuo, the Iron Man'
Year it premiered: 1991
Though Shin'ya Tsukamoto's black and white body-horror flick premiered in his native Japan two years prior, "Tetsuo" was first introduced to U.S. viewers with its slot at Sundance 1991. It got a limited release in Stateside theaters the following year, but it's ultimately a film for a very specific audience that was never meant to be embraced by the mainstream.
