Best Film Editing: "Spring Breakers"
I could easily have mentioned Benoît Debie's sultry work behind the camera here or, no question, James Franco's bizarre and colorful supporting actor portrayal (one that I've already argued goes beyond a mere stunt). But the construction of "Spring Breakers" is a huge reason for its overall success, Douglas Crise's kaleidoscopic editing a full-on extension of the film's thematic drive. It's an intoxication, warped, seductive, repellent...a real accomplishment. Not unlike the work done by David Lowery on "Upstream Color," the assemblage here lulls you into the world with a confident ease.
