Best Actress: Julie Delpy, "Before Midnight"
One of the highlights of Richard Linklater's "Before" trilogy has been the progression of Julie Delpy's performance across the three films. She has forged a complex woman of ideals, reason and passion and splashed it on the screen with all the messy wonder you'd want of such a character. Celine has never been so fleshed out as she is in "Before Midnight." While the film is due the same adapted screenplay recognition that was afforded "Before Sunset" nine years ago, Delpy deserves to finally get her due for the work she's put into this series. (Getting her there will be a battle unto itself but it should also be noted that Ethan Hawke hit a certain stride in this film, too, and deserves commendation as well.)
