Stars who gave a boost to 'Cheers,' 'Buffy,' 'The O.C.,' 'M*A*S*H," and more
Lilith Sternin (Bebe Neuwirth)
First introduced: season 4, episode 17; not a regular until season 10
Replaced: No one
"Uptight" is hardly an ideal characterization on a sitcom as seemingly laid-back as "Cheers," but Bebe Neuwrith turned what seemed like a run-of-the-mill snoot into one of the most appealing characters on the show. (In her first episode, her first line to Frasier on their failed date is, "By the way, I notice your drinking went beyond sociability." Yikes!) Lilith's sly deadpan humor made her intelligence seem all the more admirable, and it made you love the fact that she often sat at Cheers reading a book. A bad-ass in the most formal gray blazers imaginable.
