Best and Worst: Neil Patrick Harris
We're big fans of Neil Patrick Harris. His previous Emmy hosting stint and his performances as Tony Awards host have been absolutely fantastic. But this? This was too much too soon. Harris just gave one of his best Tony turns last June. Now, a little over three months later, he's trying to recapture the magic again. That's a lot to live up to. Especially when you have a much less enthusiastic live audience and different writers and producers backing you up. While some of Harris' trademark flair and energy caught fire during the mid show musical number, he often appeared to be going through the motions. It didn't help that his one liners seemed flat and uninspired. It's sad. Following his Tony triumph you could easily see him making his way to host the Oscars in the next few years. After this show? It might be take significantly longer.
