Mireille Enos, 'The Killing'
Nomination Status: Former nominee had a bounceback season.
In Her Favor: Mireille Enos was a somewhat surprising Emmy nominee back in 2011 for the first season of "The Killing" and followed that up with a Golden Globe nomination in 2012. Enos was just fine in that first season, but she was far better in Season 3. The end of the season, particularly "Six Minutes," effectively a two-hander with similarly Emmy-worthy Peter Sarsgaard, and the damning "The Road to Hamelin," let Enos find new shadings of darkness within a character who has always been pretty darned gloomy. And if you flash back from those episodes to the season premiere, Linden even smiled a couple times at the start of the season. See? Lots of range!
Working Against Her: Reactions to the third season of "The Killing" tended to be more "Yes, it's better, but..." than unqualified praise. I'm a big admirer of Enos' work this season and while I could easily put her in my Top 10, I couldn't go Top 6 with all of this competition.
