Nomination Status: The defending champ is a lock to head the field
In Its Favor: "Breaking Bad" won its first Outstanding Drama Series Emmy last year for the [relatively] weak first half of its final season, no doubt capitalizing on a voting process that took place in the middle of the splendid second half of that season. Subsequently, that second half has been on a lengthy awards juggernaut that saw it make regular returns to the podium through the Golden Globe and Guild season. With the possible exception of the Producers Guild Awards in the winter, this will be the last stop on the "Breaking Bad" Celebration Tour and there is exactly zero chance that Emmy voters will want to miss out.
Working Against It: For a nomination? Zero. It's a lock. Before HBO took the "True Detective" gamble, "Breaking Bad" was probably a lock to win this category as well. That's less certain now.
