Could Anna Gunn or Monica Potter step up against Dame Maggie Smith?
Archie Panjabi of 'The Good Wife'
Archie Panjabi, "The Good Wife"
Nomination Status: Assume Emmy complacency keeps this former winner safe
In Her Favor: Archie Panjabi has three Emmy nods and a win for "The Good Wife" and as we all know, once you get on the Emmy "repeat-nominee" train, it takes a lot of effort to disembark. And while this wasn't exactly a great season for Kalinda Sharma, the episodes with her ex-husband gave Panjabi a lot of acting to do in the first half of the season.
Working Against Her: Here's the problem: Panajbi's best episodes as an actress were part of a story arc that was almost universally despised by fans, a story arc that failed so horribly that the show's creators truncated it abruptly and ran scurrying from all of its implications. If you take away that arc, Panjabi had very little to do this season. So can you get an Emmy nomination for decent work in a storyline people hated? Probably.
