Jordan Gavaris of 'Orphan Black'
Jordan Gavaris, "Orphan Black"
Nomination Status: Zilch.
In His Favor: If "Orphan Black" has any tiny shot at Emmy recognition, it'll be for Tatiana Maslany, playing a handful of the m most vivid characters on TV. And because Maslany spends so much time playing opposite herself, most of the credit for that performance goes to her. But it still seems appropriate to recognize how much Jordan Gavaris brings to the "Orphan Black" table, playing the flamboyant Felix, who might be a caricature except for how many great moments he brings out of other characters. The Sarah-Felix scenes began as the show's heart, but by the end of the season, more than a few viewers wanted a spinoff featuring Alison and Felix crafting in suburbia. It's a finely honed comedic performance with dramatic underpinnings. Oh and if the slightly hammy accent didn't give it away, Gavaris isn't British, if you value that kind of acting.
Working Against Him: Just like the push to get Monica Potter a "Parenthood" nomination is going to blot out the hope for any of her co-stars to appear on the radar, Maslany is only going to get her longshot nod if BBC America has blinders on. I want Maslany to get that nomination, but it still seemed appropriate to get Gavaris' name out there.
