Mariska Hargitay, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"
Nomination Status: Formerly perennial nominee certainly could bounce back into the field.
In Her Favor: A whopping eight Emmy nominations and one win. Hargitay has been a mainstay in this category for so long that her lack of nomination last year represented almost a sea change among lead actresses. Will Emmy voters realize that they missed having Mariska around and welcome her back?
Working Against Her: Once you're gone, it's hard to bounce back into an Emmy category and it's even harder when you're in a category that is having an influx of talent like Lead Actress is having. I put her chances above anybody from an established show who hasn't been nominated -- Sorry, Emmy Rossum -- but I can't put her above many of the new faces in the category.
