Charlie Hunnam of 'Sons of Anarchy'
Charlie Hunnam, "Sons of Anarchy"
Nomination Status: Never before, so not now.
In His Favor: As I watched the most recent season of "Sons of Anarchy," I kept reminding myself, "Charlie Hunnam is really good this season and you should make sure you give him a slide in next year's Emmy gallery, even though the chances of him getting an Emmy nomination are roughly equal to his chances of getting an Oscar nomination for 'Pacific Rim.'" Consider that promise fulfilled. Between his gradual descent into darkness and the death of a friend and his fraying relationship with his mother and all of the other wacky hijinx ensuing on "Sons of Anarchy," Jax had a messed up season and Hunnam was at his most confident and compelling. Emmy voters are coming in as the intense promotional campaign for "Pacific Rim" is just beginning and it looks like that movie finds Jax Teller -- same bad American accent, different mechanical vehicle -- fighting monsters from space. If those trailers get Emmy voters pumped... Nevermind. Not gonna happen.
Working Against Him: Even if Emmy voters loved "Sons of Anarchy" and they were in the habit of nominating Katey Sagal whenever she has deserved nominations and whatnot, there still isn't any chance that Charlie Hunnam would be able a field this deep.
