Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama
Last Year's Nominees:
Damian Lewis, "Homeland"
Jon Hamm, "Mad Men"
Hugh Bonneville, "Downton Abbey"
Bryan Cranston, "Breaking Bad"
Michael C. Hall, "Dexter"
Steve Buscemi, "Boardwalk Empire"
Attrition: As has long been the case, this category is pretty much bonkers. All six leading men return as candidates and one could easily make the argument that six stars from six new shows wouldn't be undeserving nominees. The problem? At least five of the six nominees from last year are completely deserving of repeat attention and the one who isn't -- Sorry, Hugh Bonneville -- is really mostly undeserving because he's a supporting actor misplaced in this insane category. No matter who gets nominated, some really great actors will get hosed.
