Jason Bateman of 'Arrested Development'
Jason Bateman, "Arrested Development"
Nomination Status: It'll all depend on how much love voters want to give "Arrested Development."
In His Favor: In its original run, "Arrested Development" won Jason Bateman a Golden Globe and single-handedly allowed him to transition from former-child-star-in-need-of-a-hit to periodically successful movie leading man. Bateman's profile is much higher now than when he started on "Arrested Development" the first time and with "Flight of the Phoenix" and "The B. Team," Bateman has a couple Michael Bluth-centric episodes that could be enough to get him into the discussion.
Working Against Him: Even at the "Arrested Development" peak, Bateman wasn't an Emmy lock, only earning a nomination in 2005, though his elevated status could make him a better contender now than he was then. It'll really come down to how voters respond to the Netflix gambit and whether they're going to honor the comedy extensively or ignore it entirely. I can imagine things going either way.
