Jon Cryer of 'Two and a Half Men'
Jon Cryer, "Two and a Half Men"
Nomination Status: Last year's winner probably will return.
In His Favor: Jon Cryer had six nominations and a win in the Supporting field and yet some observers were shocked when he was nominated for Lead last year (I wasn't) and won. Practically every time I watched a few minutes of "Men" after "Big Bang" or just before "Person of Interest," Alan was tripping over something or being shocked or horrified by something Ashton Kutcher's character was doing. That kind of thing is GOLD.
Working Against Him: Last year, though, I knew that Cryer had Alan's heart attack and Charlie's death to play, both pure Emmy bait moments. Because I'm only a sporadic (if that) viewer, I don't know if he had anything comparable this year. Emmy fatigue eventually plays against nearly everybody and you certainly could forgive voters for letting their interest in "Two and a Half Men" lapse.
