Nomination Status: Last year's winner will be back.
In Its Favor: "Homeland" had one of the all-time great first years in Emmy contention, with wins for Series, Actor, Actress, casting, editing and writing. After that degree of domination, the show can only go up and also down. It can only go down, because everybody's got their blades out and honed, ready to jab at the new king. It can only go up, because there are so many categories in which "Homeland" wasn't nominated and still could be. Two words: Mandy Patinkin.
Working Against It: Taking "Homeland" down a peg became a favorite critical pastime last season. For good reason. The show went a bit bonkers, particularly in its second half. It's not going anywhere, though. Not one year after all of that domination. Is it still the favorite? Unclear. Anything could happen, maybe.
