Nomination Status: Unlike to book a nomination
In Its Favor: As y'all know, I wasn't a regular "Southland" viewer, but I watched it enough to know that it was a thoughtful, textured police procedural that made the most of its Los Angeles locations and featured a very respectable ensemble cast. Folks I respect have talked about the tremendous performances by folks like Michael Cudlitz and Regina King, as well as the show's steady improvement in the past couple seasons. Votes for "Southland" here would be mud-in-the-eye of TNT, which cancelled the drama this spring. Plus, thanks to the Stunt Coordination category and Peewee Piemonte, "Southland" is actually an established Emmy winner.
Working Against It: In five seasons, "Southland" only got three Emmy nods and all three (and both wins) were for Piemonte. Someday, I'm gonna watch the entire series and I'm sure I'll regret not supporting it more. Perhaps the same thing will happen with Emmy voters.
