Emmy Nomination Preview 2012 - Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama

With Margo Martindale gone, will this be Christina Hendricks' year?

Christine Baranski of 'The Good Wife'

Christine Baranski, "The Good Wife"

Nomination Status: Emmy voters have an insatiable love for Baranski and it's unlikely to be sated.

In Her Favor: With nine total nominations and two nominations for her "Good Wife" work, Christine Baranski is an actress Emmy voters love in a role they seem to also enjoy. And actually, I think this was a relatively decent season for Baranski on "The Good Wife," so she'll probably coast to another nomination.

Working Against Her: I respect the heck out of Baranski, but the degree of difficulty for what she does on "The Good Wife" is so vastly lower than a dozen actresses who don't stand a chance of being nominated and that disappoints me a little. So part of me always wonders if this might be the year Emmy voters notice Anna Gunn or Regina King or Lauren Graham or Lena Headey. This probably won't be that year.
