Sandra Oh of 'Grey's Anatomy'
Sandra Oh, "Grey's Anatomy"
Nomination Status: Five-time nominee continues to be worthy.
In Her Favor: Sandra Oh has five Emmy nominations for "Grey's Anatomy" and one could easily argue that certain moments this season -- Confronting Owen about his infidelities, handling the tragedies of the finale -- found Oh and Christina Yang at their absolute peaks. It's still very strange to me that Oh doesn't have an Emmy for "Grey's Anatomy," but that doesn't mean that it couldn't happen someday.
Working Against Her: I don't get what happened with Emmy voters and "Grey's Anatomy." For years, you could count on nearly everybody associated with the show getting their respective nominations and then suddenly those nominations went away. I don't understand how Chandra Wilson didn't get a nomination two years ago. I don't understand how Sara Ramirez didn't get a nomination last year for the musical episode. Even when "Grey's Anatomy" has storytelling issues, the show features four or five of the best female performances on TV and Oh's excellence hasn't wavered. But love from Emmy voters *has* wavered and suddenly it would be a surprise if she returned from a two-year Emmy vacation.
