Emmy Nomination Preview 2012 - Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy
Two 'Modern Family' frontrunners return, but will older actresses crash the field?
Jane Lynch of 'Glee'
Jane Lynch, "Glee"
Nomination Status: Former winner should have at least one more year in the field.
In Her Favor: Emmy host and winner in 2010, Lynch remains, for some viewers at least, a popular part of "Glee," even if the "Glee" writers no longer have a clue who or what Sue Sylvester is anymore. It's been a while since Sue has been especially funny, but Lynch is still excellent when "Glee" gives her dramatic moments, as in the hugely problematic spousal abuse arc. Maybe "excellent" is an overstatement. Let's just say that Jane Lynch is always every bit as good as the "Glee" writers let her be.
Working Against Her: Lynch already dropped out of the Golden Globe field and the SAG individual field, showing that waning support for the series may finally be trickling down to even its most revered castmembers.
