Two 'Modern Family' frontrunners return, but will older actresses crash the field?
Mayim Bialik of 'The Big Bang Theory'
Mayim Bialik, "The Big Bang Theory"
Nomination Status: If Emmy voters love Boy Sheldon on "Big Bang Theory," why on Earth wouldn't they nominate Girl Sheldon?
In Her Favor: You can tell it surprised them as well, but the "Big Bang Theory" writing staff has discovered that it loves writing for Bialik's Amy Farrah Fowler. Fans have watched the character go from periodic guest to regular supporting performer to a character who, at times, seems poised to take over the entire show. Plus, like Anna Chlumsky, a nomination for Bialik is recognition that you can be a child star, go off and get a PhD and Hollywood will still respect you despite your towering intellect.
Working Against Her: Bialik had her first shot in this category last year and wasn't nominated, which doesn't necessarily mean anything other than that Emmy voters weren't exactly champing at the bit to nominate her, just as they weren't in a rush to nominate her for "Blossom" back in the day.
