Nomination Status: After breaking into the field last year, this veteran should be safe.

In His Favor: The only surprise was that Ed O'Neill *wasn't* nominated for an Emmy two years ago. While rarely the funniest part of the "Modern Family" ensemble, the "Married With Children" veteran is frequently called upon to tie episodes together with heart, which he usually pulls off with aplomb. Case in point? Dancing with Lily in the finale. Gold.

Working Against Him: That 2010 snub remains a question mark. O'Neill has also been snubbed for individual recognition by SAG and Golden Globes voters.
