Jim Rash, "Community"

Nomination Status: Could an Oscar win lead to an Emmy nomination bump? Probably not.

In His Favor: I would personally endorse Donald Glover for my second choice among "Community" actors to not receive an Emmy nomination this year, but common sense tells me that no "Community" star earned more buzz this spring than Jim Rash, who won an Oscar and practically stole the telecast with his Angelina Jolie parody. Meanwhile, Rash's Dean Pelton was pushed in increasingly outlandish and occasionally hilarious directions. Plus, even before he became Oscar Winner Jim Rash, Rash had already had an entirely worthy Emmy episode with "Documentary Filmmaking: Redux." Also, as mentioned in the Danny Pudi entry, "Community" was in the news a lot this spring, which can't hurt.

Working Against Him: See Danny Pudi. "Community" may have been visible this spring, but it's been invisible for years as far as Emmy voters are concerned. Also, I may respect Oscars for writing and you may respect Oscars for writing, but Emmy voters love movie stars, not the people who write the movies for the movie stars.
