Elizabeth McGovern, "Downton Abbey"

Nomination Status: Seems poised to ride the "Downton Abbey" wave.

In Her Favor: As the featured American on "Downton Abbey," McGovern was last year's designated actress nominee in the miniseries/movie category (an honor she repeated at the Golden Globes) and she'll probably continue to capitalize on the momentum.

Working Against Her: Emmy Rossum does more and does it better every single week on "Shameless" than Elizabeth McGovern does on "Downton Abbey." It's absurd that they're in the same category at all and even more absurd that one has a good shot at a nomination and the other is an outsider.
