Glenn Close, "Damages"

Nomination Status: Powerhouse and two-time winner returns to the field.

In Her Favor: If Emmy voters are aware of the existence of DirecTV and are aware that "Damages" is back up for awards, Glenn Close is a lock to earn her fourth Emmy nomination for this role. In all, Glenn close has 13 Emmy nominations and three wins. And she earned her sixth Oscar nomination earlier this year. Yeah. She's safe.

Working Against Her: "Friday Night Lights" aired on NBC in addition to airing on DirecTV, so there's really no precedent for how Emmy voters will respond to a DirecTV-only series. While Rose Byrne may be impacted, Close is so powerful she should coast.
