Kyra Sedgwick, "The Closer"

Nomination Status: We assume the Emmy rule is "Once you're out, you're out." But who knows?

In Her Favor: It seems like so long ago that Kyra Sedgwick was nominated five straight years for "The Closer" and even won an Emmy in 2010. The respect TNT star went from "winner" to "shut-out" in the blink of an eye, but before that she was one of this category's sure-things. Despite last year's Emmy snub though, Sedgwick still remained in the SAG Awards individual field, which means that not everybody has forgotten about her. Although "The Closer" is coming to an end, Sedgwick still has two more shots at Emmy nominations.

Working Against Her: Losing that Emmy place, as well as her Golden Globes nomination slot, was a big deal. No, it wasn't a big deal like hunger in Africa or rebuilding Haiti. But this is all just Emmy blather and it's hard for a performer on an aging show to bounce back into a field once they've been excluded.
