Amy Poehler of 'Parks and Recreation'
Amy Poehler, "Parks and Recreation"
Nomination Status: Deserves to win. Should at least be safe for a nomination.
In Her Favor: Leslie Knope's political campaign gave Amy Poehler one tremendous moment after another this season, ranging from "The Trial of Leslie Knope" and "Citizen Knope" in the season's first half to the absolute triumphs of "The Debate" and "Win, Lose or Draw" in the home stretch. Poehler should also be a legitimate candidate for writing and directing Emmy nods for her work on "The Debate." Should those pieces all come together along with a deserved nod as a producer on "Parks and Rec," Poehler that would be an achievement that even Tina Fey hasn't managed. With two straight Emmy nods for this role, an acting nod should be the most easily attainable.
Working Against Her: By my count, there are nine or 10 actresses reasonably gunning for six nomination spots. There are guaranteed to be three or four actresses who are snubbed, but have great cases to make. It would be ridiculous if Poehler were one of the snubbed actresses, but... Let's just pretend there's no chance of that happening.
