Emmy Nomination Preview 2012 - Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama
With Coach Taylor gone, will Bryan Cranston return to take his fourth Emmy?
Kiefer Sutherland of 'Touch'
Kiefer Sutherland, "Touch"
Nomination Status: Viewers didn't care that Kiefer was back on TV, but maybe Emmy voters will?
In His Favor: Sutherland earned seven acting nominations and one win for his last regular TV series character and his "Touch" role -- grieving, disconnected father pondering his silent super-powered son -- seemed like a clear awards-bait no-brainer.
Working Against Him: Then people actually saw a couple episodes of "Touch" and decided they didn't care. "Touch" spent a spring shedding viewers on FOX and rather than totally losing face (and sacrificing a potentially useful international property), FOX renewed the series, but sent it off to Friday, where nobody will notice if it continues to flounder. That doesn't mean Kiefer's bad on "Touch." He's pretty decent. He's not getting an Emmy nomination for it, though.
