'Once Upon a Time'
"Once Upon a Time" (ABC)
Nomination Status: This is the only other network drama I'm giving an iota of a shot
In Its Favor: "Once Upon a Time" premiered to solid reviews and a big audience. But lots of shows premiere well and then fizzle swiftly or slowly. The difference with "Once Upon a Time" is that it was a legitimate hit that maintained its audience all through the fall and spring, whether it was facing NFL games or big-name awards shows. Those are signs that people really, really like "Once Upon a Time." The chances of that warmth converting to Emmy support are *next* to nil, but they aren't quite nil.
Working Against It: Popular support, even when mixed with some level of critical admiration, doesn't mean much when it comes to Emmys, especially when the show in question can be called a "genre" show. While "Game of Thrones" broke down some fantasy doors last year, that was "serious" fantasy, while "Once Upon a Time" is "fantasy" fantasy. Like I said: Almost no chance. But only *almost*.
