Emmy Nomination Preview 2011 - Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama
Archie Panjabi returns, but who will join her in the field?
Pauley Perrette of 'NCIS'
Pauley Perrette, "NCIS"
Nomination Status: She's never even in the conversation. And that's weird.
In Her Favor: I don't watch "NCIS." At all. But I find it genuinely perplexing that the most popular actress -- check Q Ratings, it's amazing -- on TV's most popular drama has never been nominated for an Emmy and nobody even finds it vaguely odd each time she's not on the short-list. Whenever I watch a second or two of "NCIS," Perrette is invariably the only person who holds my attention. Some might say that's a bigger achievement than the three or four minutes Christine Baranski or Sharon Gless appear on "Good Wife" and "Burn Notice" each week. If this were 1995, Perrette would have five or six nominations by now.
Working Against Her: This is 2011. Emmy voters don't care about "NCIS" and 20-ish million "NCIS" viewers don't care about Emmy votes.
