Emmy Nomination Preview 2011 - Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama
Archie Panjabi returns, but who will join her in the field?
Khandi Alexander of 'Treme'
Khandi Alexander, "Treme"
Nomination Status: Alexander is a real longshot. Unless Emmy voters actually watch "Treme."
In Her Favor: Alexander was remarkable in the first season of HBO's "Treme." Emmy voters ignored her. She's been even better in the second season of "Treme." Will Emmy voters notice? They ought to, because LaDonna's arc and Alexander's performance have both been top-notch. Alexander also gets a little boost from not needing to go head-to-head with Oscar-winning co-star Melissa Leo, who's submitted for Lead Actress.
Working Against Her: Under the very best of circumstances, David Simon shows simply don't get Emmy nominations. It's hard to imagine that changing for a show with base of support as tiny as the audience for "Treme."
