Emmy Nomination Preview 2011 - Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama

With four 2010 nominees gone, can Walton Goggins or John Noble move up?

Cameron Monaghan of 'Shameless'

Cameron Monaghan, "Shameless"

Nomination Status: Not gonna happen. Should at least be considered.

In His Favor: Jeremy Allen White and Cameron Monaghan both deserve a heap of credit for their performances as two of the most likably troubled teens on TV. I'm singling Monaghan's Ian, balancing a string of variably problematic gay relationships while also dealing with his family's myriad issues, out for praise, but probably not nearly enough was written about White's Lip this season either. The cast of "Shameless" is really good, y'all.

Working Against Him: The "Shameless" hype cloud hovers over Emmy Rossum (totally deservedly), William H. Macy (a bit more problematically) and Joan Cusack (fine by me). It's doubtful that anybody else will get noticed.
