Emmy Nomination Preview 2011 - Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama
With four 2010 nominees gone, can Walton Goggins or John Noble move up?
Kevin McKidd of 'Grey's Anatomy'
Kevin McKidd, "Grey's Anatomy"
Nomination Status: The most likely "Grey's Anatomy" male to sneak into the field.
In His Favor: Did you see the musical episode? Who knew the "Trainspotting" and "Journeyman" star had that sort of performance in him? If Emmy voters remember that episode -- and I think Sara Ramirez is a strong contender thanks to it -- McKidd was the other performer who stood out. He also had passionate and dynamic work in his season-closing arc with Sandra Oh, another reasonable Emmy contender.
Working Against Him: Emmy voters have traditionally remembered the "Grey's Anatomy" women and forgotten about the men. Justin Chambers should have a couple Emmy nominations by now. Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane could both be reasonable contenders this year. Instead? They're all longshots unlikely to make the short-list.
