Emmy Nomination Preview 2011 - Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama

With four 2010 nominees gone, can Walton Goggins or John Noble move up?

Denis O'Hare of 'True Blood'

Denis O'Hare, "True Blood"

Nomination Status: Respected theater star and veteran scene-stealer shouldn't be ruled out.

In His Favor: The one indisputably awesome part of an otherwise convoluted and muddled "True Blood" Season Three, Denis O'Hare chewed more scenery than every other actor in this gallery put together. If voters watch "True Blood," it's hard to imagine them not remembering his character's news broadcast interruption, which was one of 2010's great TV moments.

Working Against Him: This was a bad category choice, if you ask me. O'Hare's performance and his role are much more in keeping with what you'd normally find in the Guest Actor category and I think his chances of earning a nomination would have been better there as well. As it stands, Emmy voters have only a tempered appreciation for "True Blood" and he's unlikely to break through.
